Healing After Divorce

Earlier I mentioned that my new ex has a girlfriend and that I believe that at some level (emotionally – at a minimum) he was cheating on me before we even started talking divorce.  He has cheated on me before.

Now we are divorced and have been for about a month.  So why do I still feel like he’s cheating on me?  When does that feeling go away?

I’m hoping that it will fade, bit by bit.  I want it to fade immediately.

  1. Do you think it’s because you still share a space with him? Once you get your own place and have your own life, without having to *constantly* see what he’s up to, it might get better. It doesn’t surprise me you’re having some trouble coping when you have to witness and hear about his new girlfriend, and you’re only very, very recently divorced. Not to mention he cheated on your in the past. You’re just being “triggered,” which is what we call it in psychiatry. Once you get away from the triggers it’ll get easier.
